PocketMusic - a must have free music player for Windows Mobile

This application is by no means new, but its new to me. If you ever listen to MP3s on your Windows Mobile and you don't already have a 3rd party player - get PocketMinds PocketMusic.

It looks great, its intuitive to use, and its quality exceeds many commercial applications - and did I mention it was free?

As I've mentioned before, as a software developer I'm always happy to pay for good software, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate finding good free tools.

My Dell Laptop didn't come with any 3rd party CD burning software and I wanted to burn an ISO image ... a quick google search brought me to http://www.freeisoburner.com/.

I downloaded the app, checked it for viruses and started it up. It was simple, didn't install unnecessary files to my computer, and successfully burned my Slax CD image.

5 stars for doing exactly what I needed and nothing more. If you're looking for a free application to burn ISO files - Free ISO burner is perfect.

Panoramic Software releases FreeCell for Windows Mobile Professional & Standard

Panoramic Software Inc has released FreeCell for Windows Mobile Touch devices (5.0 and newer).

Its an excellent implementation with great graphics, touch friendly drag-able cards and over 2,000,000 games.

A Few More Favorite Applications

I wrote about my top 5 favorite applications for Windows Mobile developers earlier this month.

I've now added a list of my favorite free tools/apps on the right side of this blog.

The new additions include:
AVG: excellent free anti-virus. I would recommend upgrading to the paid version if you find it useful but the free version offers excellent and reliable basic protection.

Trillian: A great IM client that handles multiple accounts and most common IM protocols including MSN, AIM, Yahoo, GoogleTalk, etc. The Pro version doesn't offer much beyond the free version but I registered to support this excellent product.

CamStudio: An amazing open source screen capture utility.

NSIS: In my opinion, the best installer creatation tool. This tool trumps every paid installation creation tool I've ever used. Developed by the same team that created WinAMP. Its also open source.
